March Money Faith & Finance Tip
Getting to the Core of Your Spending Habits
Proverbs 4:7
"Getting wisdom is the wisest thing you can do! And whatever else you do, develop good judgement."
Ecclesiastes 7:12
"Wisdom is a shelter as money is a shelter, but the advantage of knowledge is this: wisdom preserves those who have it."
Action: Consider this, if someone were to take a look at your checkbook, or bank statement, what would they learn about your spending habits? Spend time today charting your spending.
Here’s how you can get started! Get a box of highlighters, and download a copy of your bank statement for the past 30 days. Use a different color highlighter to mark your expenses-housing, food, transportation, insurance (auto, life, prescription co-pays, etc.), children, personal care, charitable giving, entertainment, monthly loans/credit cards, and savings. Total up each category and determine what percentage it is of your take home pay. What did you learn?
Prayer Focus: Spend time today praying about your spending habits and expenses.
